Discussion of the origin of the abolition movement

When did the anti slavery movement begin? I ask because it is as important to the history of the Cibil War as slavery itself, yet we seldom discuss the origins.
Many narratives claim the movement began in Denmark, but in reading original source records of early Dutch settlements in New Amsterdam and in Pennsylvania I find that opposition in the colonies in the mid-1600s.
In the book "Slavery in Pennsylvania" (link below) it clearly shows that many Dutch settlers did not support the peculiar institution;
