Been a while since I posted a recipe. This is like what my Grandma Ruth called Dirty Rice. Best as I could recreate. Simple. Not spicy. Can be adapted though!

1 1/2 cups uncooked long grain rice
1 to 1 1/2 pounds ground beef, cooked, drain grease
1 can clear onion soup
1 med. to large onion, chopped
1 bell pepper, chopped
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can cream mushroom soup
1 empty soup can of water
salt and pepper to taste

Mix all ingredients together and place in a greased baking dish. Cover with foil and bake 325 degrees for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Water should be absorbed by rice but do not overcook. It will be gummy.

While the recipe sounds good, the name would turn most people off.
First time my Grandma Ruth served it to me and told me what it was, I stuck my nose right up close and took a big old smell to make sure it wasn't bad!
I still wasn't convinced so I put lots of salt on it just in case!

You left out the chopped chicken livers and leftover boudin. :smoke:

I like how you think!
This would be scrumptious for the ladies!
Our next get together is the end of the month, if not sooner. Maybe I will!
For a shortcut, both Tony Chachere's and Zatarain’s make good starter mixes:

https://www.mccormick.com/zatarains/products/dinner-and-side-mixes/rice-mixes-and-side-dishes/dirty-rice-mix-original

Feel free to add anything you like to the standard recipe.
As with Gumbo or Jambalaya, there are no set rules for Dirty Rice.

Bojangle's has the best dirty rice I've ever eaten. I always get a Picnic size whenever we go, which is at least once a week (I must have some crazy clogged arteries!)
It's been awhile since I've eaten at a Bojangle's, but you're right . . . they do have some great Dirty Rice.
Popeye's serves some pretty good Dirty Rice as well.
