I visited the Battle of Franklin Battleground & Museum in Tennessee last year, and understand that they host an annual reunion for the battle's survivor's descendants each October. How many of you here had ancestors who survived Battle of Franklin? Have you ever been to the Franklin Reunion?

I have ancestors who fought there, and I visited the battlefield a few years ago. Thinking about going back this Fall. When is the Reunion held?

if my memory serves me, it is in October each year. Google search for the Franklin Battleground Website for specifics.

Does it count if your ancestor was captured and later died at Camp Douglas? Franklin was not a good day for us.

I had a mess of kin at Franklin. Only one known casualty. A gg aunt's husband got shot through the hip. He was in the 8th Tennessee. Two gg grandfathers, and two gg uncles in Forrest's Escort were untouched. One of my gg grandfathers and one of my gg uncles became ministers after the war. I always wondered if what they saw there contributed to that.

Im not involved in this one but i have a question.
It says in the OP "survivors". Do they not let you in if your ancestor was killed in this battle?
    Survivors only?

You'd need to ask them, but they surely want anyone who descended from the soldiers. I may have misquoted... going from my memory.

We just had a reunion this fall past fall (2016). It is held every other year, so the next will likely be Oct. 2018.
