Date stamp appear correct

Is it just me or does the date stamp on the Artillery Sword look a bit off?

The Ames markings were typically weak marking to begin with. Your is not a die that was used by Ames on any sword I have seen. I'm going to say someone tried to highlight them sometime after the war and didn't have a die that was even close to the original. Lets see if we can get @Richard E. Schenk opinion

These stampings are more inline with what I’ve seen so far. Would you think the one I posted is possibly a post war date changed to appear as a war date? I guess I’ll steer clear of it regardless and continue my hunt.
