Are there any artillery batteries credited with the capturing of an enemy battery? If yes, please name battery, enemy unit captured and engagement.
I do not know of any such instances. Artillery did not usually accompany infantry during an assault on the enemy lines. Are there any artillery batteries credited with the capturing of an enemy battery? If yes, please name battery, enemy unit captured and engagement.
What about a Horse Artillery battery?I do not know of any such instances. Artillery did not usually accompany infantry during an assault on the enemy lines.
Horse artillery was assigned to the cavalry. More likely that a cavalry regiment or battalion would have made the capture than the accompanying battery. What about a Horse Artillery battery?
Horse artillery was a type of light, fast-moving, and fast-firing artillery which provided highly mobile fire support, especially to cavalry units. Horse artillery units existed in armies in Europe, the Americas, and Asia, from the early 17th to the mid-20th century.

How do you know this @ucvrelics? Do you know the history of every battery? Were records kept on who captured each battery?
I have researched and studied the CW with an emphasis on artillery for over 40 years and have NEVER seen an instance where one battery captured another. I have seen many where infantry did. If you think about what would be involved with one battery of artillery crossing a very large area of battlefield with nothing but a short sword and maybe a pistol or a picked up musket to take a enemy battery, the logic is just not there. I used to tell my students when I was a US Army ordnance instructor that the only dumb question is the one you don't ask but this one pushes that envelope. Prove me wrong and I will stand corrected. How do you know this @ucvrelics? Do you know the history of every battery? Were records kept on who captured each battery?
