Although it appears to have too many gun-ports, (but I have not seen the plans) the artist, W.A.K. Martin, has a reputation of being spot on accurate with his US age of sail warship paintings. It is dated 1858.

I don't think the "extra" gunports are too surprising, or unrealistic. Ships often had more ports than guns. The Navy was just transitioning from broadside sloops like Hartford to the new type with a few heavy pivot guns - which used ports on both sides. The new-style sloops could carry heavy broadside batteries when necessary, such as Juniata and Ticonderoga at the bombardment of Fort Fisher.
