This entry is so fraught with wrong info it is not even funny.

Back in the 1930's it was known as a Griswold and Grier (note the correct spelling) which was incorrect as it was a Griswold and Gunnison brass frame .36 Colt copy. The frame was brass and the cylinder was made from heated iron bars twisted to create such, and originals show the twist.

I would demand to see the cylinder. The twist is from left to right when viewed from the rear of the pistol.

Either the poster has no clue as to what is real or is just is taking Col. Holifield's word.

A 5" barrel by G&G? Never happened. They were all 7.5" barrels. If so, someone cut it down post factory.

WHF was a US Army inspector for Colt guns. It has nothing to do with Confederate copies.

That does not make it a factory gun with the short barrel unless the owner can produce a letter from G&G stating that serial number was produced at the factory. That is a very long non-existent shot.

I believe this guy is selling a bill of goods along with his extraneous goods as an enticement.

My $.02 worth.

Jim
