"Print gives brief history of Company K; including its creation and involvement in the Civil War. Toward the bottom is a list of all the men that served in the company, including those who were discharged or died in battle. At the top is a photograph of those men still active in the company." lots of german names there
Recent German immigrants to Missouri proved to be an excellent source of soldiers for the Union cause, particularly early. Many had previous military experience serving in Europe. Obviously, actual Missourians also served in these MSM units. The "Dutch" came to be hated in Missouri and it took a couple of generations for these feelings to subside.
