Thanks for making this forum available -- it's very informative. This is my first post!
I've been a fan of the movie "Glory" since it first came out almost 30 years ago. Actually, it was my first real introduction to the American Civil War. The story of the Massachusetts 54th Regiment under Col. Robert Gould Shaw's command continues to inspire me to this day. In case anyone is interested, Col. Robert Gould Shaw's epaulettes (as well as a moving letter from his father, Francis George Shaw) are coming up for auction very soon:
