Collecting Again

I started collecting Civil War photos, both CDVs and hard images in 1982 and in time I
got some nice ones in my collection. I enjoyed collecting and displaying my images and
I liked to help others learn and also learn more myself.

A decade or so ago I got a surprise inherited illness and the doctor told my wife that
I would die soon or be what I would call brain dead. So, I sold my most expensive images
so my family would get the money. A few weeks went by and wouldn't you know it the doctor
told us that the illness was not going to kill me afterall, and I would probably live for many
years. Well, I started collecting again and this time I knew more about the images and how to
acquire them, and I think that my second collection is better than my first.

I think that losing one's collection is not so bad, because it can possibly be replaced. But if one
were to lose his collecting knowledge, that would be much worse.

Welcome to the forum from a fellow enthusiast and collector; I hope we get to see some of your new collection soon! "Uncle Willie" here ( not MY uncle! ) is probably the favorite from my collection:

Killer image to say the least! Is that an ID carved into the
cartrdge box sling? I have one where the subject, an Alabama soldier,
writes his signature on the anbro's emulsion. I will be posting some if
it is not too hard to do here!

Thank you; his name is carved or written as W WHITE, and the relative I bought him from called him "Uncle Willie". Unfortunately, the name William White is too common for any kind of positive identification. There are instructions for posting images under the "Questions Frequently Asked" section, including how to post your icon. We look forward to seeing yours!
