A while ago, I read Dixie Victorious, and I can't remember the author for this particular scenario, but ome of its scenarios involved sending Cleburne's division plus cavalry (probably meaning a division and a battalion respectively) from the Army of Tennessee to join Early's Army of the Valley.
Wanna know how much of an impact that would have on the Valley Campaign.
Personally, given Joe Johnston will fight a defensive withdrawal no matter if he has enough troops or not to acheive tactical victories, letting him keep another division would be a waste.
(Btw, in the scenario, the author makes a jump to say during the Fort Steven Skirmish Lincoln is killed by a lucky sniper; also, the author neglects to mention Stephen Ramseur, while he mentions every other division commander)
