Although not my usual Throwback Thursday fare, these two favorite photos are from my last visit in 2017 to South Mountain near Antietam Battlefield, Maryland. Above, site of the well where bodies of Confederate soldiers were dumped following the Sept. 14, 1862 fight at Fox's Gap; below, the War Correspondents' Memorial Arch in Crampton's Gap on the estate of former correspondent George Alfred Townsend (whose penname was Gath) in what is now Gapland State Park. We are now formally planning our return as prelude to this year's annual CivilWarTalk Muster - for more information, please see:
Anyone else having (preferably) old Civil War-related photos, mementoes, or memorabilia from reenactments, living history or other events, or vacation or other travel they would like to share with us is welcome and encouraged to post them here in this weekly thread!
