Well, It didn't take Doc. Gary long to snag wood from the recently found tree in Independence Missouri that had the cannon ball in-bedded in it. The guy that cut the tree and found the ball sold doc a huge slab of the tree and he has already made a pen from it and its a beauty. Mine is in the mail. The guy drove the slab up to Montana for the Doc and he even got the piece with the chain in it. The ball is still at the house where it was found.

I just visited his webpage. What a beautiful and meaningful collection of pens! Priceless! And you are mentioned on that page, right?
I'm built and maintain Doc's website. I convinced him about 3 years ago to do so its a labor of love for both of us and I get a pen from all of the wood also. :D :dance:
 
Got to agree with Irishtom 29, there is something special about writing with a fountain pen or dip pen. I guess that hand writing will soon become a lost art. To bad.
