This week's Throwback Thursday records the visit of me and my old reenacting friend Ed Owens to a then-new group's gun crew where we served as instructors for the novice artillerymen, led by another friend Roy Beckett, owner of the full-scale mountain howitzer, its limber, and horse. Although I'm wearing an officer's uniform, I'm really serving in the position of gunner who was usually a corporal. (Ed and Roy are seated on the limber.) Unfortunately, I no longer remember the specific date nor location, it was ca. 1980.
Anyone else having (preferably) old Civil War-related photos, mementoes, or memorabilia from reenactments, living history events, vacation or other travel is welcome and encouraged to share them with us in this weekly thread!
