Another photo from my 1961 vacation trip with my mother to Gettysburg and Manassas for the Centennial reenactment there. This time I'm seen at Harper's Ferry, West Virginia, near Jefferson Rock overlooking the Potomac and a view that Jefferson himself proclaimed was "worth a voyage across the Atlantic." Of course it was about this time of year, on the night of October 16-17, 1859, that fanatic John Brown conducted his notorious "raid" on Harper's Ferry, thereby foreshadowing the Civil War.

Anyone else having old Civil War-related photos is encouraged to post them here too!
