Civil War Gibbs Carbine (one of 1052 made)

May, 1863. .52 caliber, 39" length, 22" barrel, Martial marked, STB cartouche for Samuel Timothy Bugbee, second unreadable cartouche. Initials DWF carved lightly in stock. Usage was for 10th Mo. Cav, 13th & 16th NY Cav. They were not serial numbered. There is a well done pin repair to the forearm

Beautiful piece! Thanks for sharing! We had a Trivia question about this weapon just last month. Nice to actually see some photos of such a fine example.

Wow! That's a fine looking piece! I've never seen any percussion firearm with lock plates that long!
