MASCOUTAH - Come along for a walk down 1860s Mill Street Mascoutah on Saturday, June 21st. The free History Walk will begin in the front of Regions Bank on the corner of East Main and Lebanon Streets at 9:30 a.m.

In preparation for the Mascoutah Heritage Museum current Civil War exhibit, the museum research staff explored many resources not just on the war itself, but delved into many areas where they could find what Mascoutah, along with its inhabitants, was like during the time its 465 volunteers left and served their country.

This second Civil War-time tour will be just two blocks long--from Lebanon to Schmahl (now Railway Avenue) Streets. These two blocks comprise the entire length of the original town of Mechanicsburg platted in 1837. For many years this was the entire "nerve center" of the town.
