There does not appear to be any blood on his jacket, could it be a scar from a previous wound?

Great thread, traversing the pics I came about a photo of men building a corduroy road that was quite striking and something I hadn't seen before. I tried to go back to it but got lost. The best photo of that type of work I've ever seen. Help!:eek:

In 26, it looks a lot like an injury but in 27 it could also be very high cheek ones and sunken cheeks so really not sure.. But it looks fairly straight across almost like a saber wound...
Looks to me like a dirty (bloody?) bandage, roughly rectangular in shape. His skin, all around the rectangular shape (except the bottom), is consistently lighter than the patch. Below the patch, on the collar of his coat, are dark splotches. Could be shadows? Or blood dripping from his bandage?
