"The Pet" 8 Inch Columbiad of the Republican Blues at Ft. McAllister, Genesis Point, Bryan Co Georgia. In 1863, she had a trunnion blown off
when the USS Patapsco, Passaic, and Nahant attacked the Fort from the Ogeechee River. The attack was more of a feint, being used more as a live fire test of the machinery, and to test the effectiveness of the the ironclads' guns against the earthworks of the fort.
