This photo is from "Right Forward, Fours Right, March!" (1900) by Emanuel Rossiter about the 3rd Wisconsin Volunteers in the Spanish American War. Who/what is the monument about? What is on the plaque?

A link to the entire (96 page) book. Photo is on page 22. Thanks. Edit - a couple more Chickamauga monuments on pages 23, 24.

There are four "shell type" mortuary monuments to Confederate officers at Chickamauga......Brig Gen Preston Smith, Brig Gen James Deshler, Brig Gen Benjamin H Helm and Col Peyton H Colquitt. Comparing the concrete foundation in this photo to the one in your post I would say the monument is to Deshler.

The plaque reads:

James Deshler
Brig Gen CSA
Commanding Brigade
Cleburne's Division
Killed Here About Noon
Sept 20th 1863
