Have you been to Chickamauga? When I went, I was amazed that any coordination was possible given the terrain.

One interesting aspect of researching Willich is noting his extensive involvement in the German Communist League and the fact that he was a rival to Karl Marx for leadership until 1851.

Yes, his rivalry with Marx is interesting. I've never really thought of communists in the CW so that adds another little piece to the picture of who these folks were.

I was also interested in the mention of the "advance firing" tactic. Do you know how that worked, exactly ?

I knew Willich was a communist, but I was surprised at how large a following he had in Europe.
