Chickamauga Battlefield GA, Fuller CW gun museum.
I've stopped shaking now. took two weeks. every CW gun in brand new condition.
worth the stop. and free too. Ken
Thanks right at Chickamauga Muster CWT 2018. At the visitor center they have an awesome collection of Civil War history's found. I took a lot of photos but now I can't remember where I put them!
It is an awesome collection and they had to build a separate wing when Mr. Fuller donated the collection. At our muster in 2018 I was able to point out some of the VERY RARE pieces that in it.
CHCH houses the famous Claud E. Fuller (author of The Rifled Musket) collection of US military arms, which has special emphasis on Civil War long arms made in the US and in particular US model 1861 from Springfield Armory and all the various contractor produced versions. It is well worth seeing.
and for research. I have a percussion 63 Sharps carbine. great condition but the for arm is slightly off.
I looked at the Fuller example, took a picture and now know it is a replacement from an 1853 Sharps carbine.
period replacement I'm sure considering the age of the wood.
I'm mainly like to see the collection to get a close look at their Texas made rifles. Then maybe get with a certain gun builder a lot of folks here have met and try to replicate one.
Maybe two of them...
Oh screw it replicate all of them, there Texas Rifles! Even if a bit on the junk side.
If you ask about a particular weapon, they will give you a write up with all info about the weapon. This museum used to be at Point Lookout, atop Lookout Mountain in Chatanooga before moving to Chickamauga park.
