Capt. George A. Barksdale, Quartermaster 16th Va. Inf. Along With His Original 1861 Appointment Signed By LeRoy Pope Walker As Secretary Of War

"Walker[?] wears a double breasted frock coat with the rows of buttons rather closely spaced. There are no cuff facings and only a hint of his standup collar is visible with the rest being hidden by his beard. His trousers exhibit a wide dark stripe and he holds a photograph case in his hand. Coat clearly a 'homespun' product and utilizes an exterior breast pocket. Housed in a floral half case. 8" X 10" pre-printed document filled in with ink dated July 19, 1861 appointing Barksdale as Asst Quartermaster of the 16th Va. Regiment and signed by LeRoy Pope walker as Secretary of War.
