The Columbus Arsenal produced many guns after the machinery was moved there from Baton Rouge. These guns can be traced as they were cataloged when issued. Photos of the whole gun and clearer photos of the tube markings would help in I'ding where they went and what unit got them.

This cannon is an Ames CS rework. Between Aug. 1863 and June 1864 over 200 cannons were channeled thru the Atlanta arsenal. Most of these were captured at Chickamauga. If you could post some photos of the front tube markings we can trace that one also.

These were at the Infantry Museum at Fort Benning Ga. yesterday. I will not be going back there. We were rather busy at the museum, so all I did was walk by the cannons. The arms curator wS about to take us to the museum sub basement. He got out so.e rare arms, some one of a kind, so I hated to miss the storage basement tour to look at cannons.

I am on the bus right now going to the Civil War Navy Museum.
