There were so few to begin with, I'd be surprised if you can find any. If those impersonating men were caught, they were discharged in disgrace, denied pensions, and generally disappeared into the general population. If they were not caught, I suspect they would have kept quiet about it, in hopes of one day gaining a pension (as a man).

Then there were some 18,000 female nurses who served officially in U.S. army hospitals. Some were granted pensions (after 1892). Given the longer average lifespan enjoyed by women, some of them surely survived after 1940. The inspiring story of one, Susan (Haines) Clayton (1851-1948), who nursed soldiers at Camp Carrington army hospital in Indianapolis at the age of ten, is told HERE. That article says there were two other army nurses who outlived her, but does not name them.

A search at Newspapers.com, "Civil War nurse" from 1940-55, reveals many more. This could be a major project.

Mary Elizabeth Osborn, b.10 Sept 1847,d. 14 Feb 1940, @92, Muskegeon, Mich
Harriet Manning Brubaker, b. 7 Oct 1844, d. 6 Feb 1940, @95, Urbana, Oh
Mary Louise Catlin, b.?, d. 11Nov 1940, National City,CA
etc
ETA: a Google search for "Sarah Frances Rockwell" will find a confederate nurse who died in Connecticut in 1953, at the age of 109!

Here’s a start.
[Note that many of these are simply notices with no more detail than: “Mrs X, a civil war nurse, died yesterday at Y, at the age of ##.” Usually without noting her maiden name, or for which side she nursed. A small number were children, who “helped her mother nursing soldiers,” etc. Authenticating them all may be difficult. Some names have a single notice, others were repeated dozens of times across the country.]

Was thinking of adding them to the veteran list since theres less then 30 nurses...
Theres no point making another master list.
