Can someone confirm the date of this 1880s Jacob Reed navy button?

Got this button a few years ago, and I would like to confirm it is from the 1880s or else if it is from earlier or later. I have unsuccessfully searched for one with the same design on the front by the company.

The backmark, Jacob Reed's Sons dates from 1877 when Jacob left the business to his sons in July of that year. The button would be dated after 1877. Data from American Military goods Dealers and Makers page 136.

Jacob Reed was to Philly what Brooks Brothers was to New York. They sold many items from suits, uniforms, hats ties etc. They only made a small portion of what they sold. There buttons were made by Waterbury Button Co. with the Jacob Reed back-mark.
