Looks like a canal boat?????

Yes, with the flat, parallel sides to fit through locks. It would be interesting to know the background, apparently the creek rose and fell several feet while the boat was presumably moored to the shore. Wonder if the creek was dammed?

My guess would be that this is a photo of the C&O Canal while it was drained for winter. The leaves are off the trees, but it looks like there might be some early blooms on the bushes, so maybe the canal is starting to be refilled for spring.

Edited to add: I don't think this is a photo of the stream called Cabin John's Run itself; I think it's a photo of the canal in Maryland near the location of Cabin John's Run. Some places along the canal were identified by creeks as much as towns, because getting the canal across creeks required engineering like aqueducts, culverts, etc., so they were a big deal.
