THis is recipe from Captain James M. Sanderson. There are several of his recipes on the forum.
Cabbage Stew
one head cabbage
onions
salt pork
stewed tomatoes
salt
pepper
ground red pepper
Fry salt pork in large cast iron pot
move to cooler fire
add cabbage and let cook for 1 hour
add tomatoes.
Let cook for quite awhile
Add salt and pepper to taste
Add ground red pepper
After 2 to 3 hours , taste and cook more if needed.
