Butler seeks to make some money

I think it should read, "When wasn't Butler not seeking to make money?"
Spoken like a true son of the south fully immersed in myth legacy. I dare not speak to the noble and pious works of southern soldiers but I do know that more then a few union men used the war to profit and stay out of the fighting ...almost like own a few slaves and get out of the service.
 
The 1964 Civil Right's Act was almost as far-reaching as Butler's Civil Rights Act or 1875.

I would recommend the following excerpt from the debates over that act to illustrate just how well prepared Congressman Butler was to respond to any question or challenge. The breadth and depth of his intellect is startling.
