What are some books on the Indian tribes during the war, including those not directly involved? I had wanted to see if there were any books on the Comanche during the war.

Don't know any good modern books, but "A Creek Warrior for the Confederacy" by one Chief G.W. Grayson, (edited by W. David Baird) is an excellent first hand look into the pre-war, wartime, and post-war struggles from a metis Creek Indian's point of view in the Indian Territory. Grayson served as Captain of a company from the 2nd Creek Mounted Rifles.

Try to find on Ebay the February 1997 edition of The Civil War Times Illustrated. It is a special edition of "Indians in Blue and Gray." It should only be about $6.00. It goes into a lot of detail on this. The Delaware Indians, the Oneidas, and Cherokees played huge roles.
Company K of the 1st Michigan Sharpshooters were American Indians.
