I'm not really sure that I have the right guy, the reference book that I have spells his name "Champman" instead of Chapman. It lists no birthday or day of death either. And it has him being wounded on the second day on a new line after having been forced back from west of town on day 1. Probably the same colonel though, it does mention his regimental commands at. the Bristoe and Mine Run campaigns after returning to field duty after having been wounded.
