Beauvoir The home of Jefferson Davis during the last 12 years of his life. It is at Biloxi, Mississippi, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. In 1877, when Davis was financially ruined, his old friend and the owner of Beauvoir, Mrs. Sarah Dorsey, gave him a cottage on the property to write his history of the war. When she died of cancer in 1879, she left the property to him.
