Today is the anniversary of the Battle of West Point, GA where Confederate General Robert C. Tyler was killed. It was the end of General James H. Wilson's raid across Alabama and into Georgia. (See map & Link).
I searched for a thread but I couldn't find anything except a bio on General Robert Tyler.

Great Stuff as I hunted a lot of Wilsons sites from Gravely Springs to Selma. One thing, there was no Birmingham at that time it was Elyton.
 
Wilson knew how to find the right superiors at the right times where by he could make associations and therefore elevate himself.
