Hey y'all I figured I'd make my first post about the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Marianna, also known around these parts as Marianna Day. As you can imagine it was a small battle but yet a fierce one. We are hoping to have a very good turnout this year, however Atlanta is the weekend before, Tavares is the same weekend, and Andersonville is the weekend after. This year the whole even has been placed in the hands of a local historian/author Mr. Dale Cox, you may have seen a few of his books most of which are about the history of North Florida. I just wanted to share a link with y'all to spread the word of Marianna Day and perhaps find a few folks who wouldn't mind attending this event.

I just bumped into a bit about Asboth's operations while looking up some Mobile Bay -related material; if I recall correctly, part of the impetus for Asboth's foray was to cut a rail line leading to Mobile in support of the Mobile area operations, as well as possibly to link up with a Union cavalry force (that eventually did not come his way).

Welcome aboard!
