Although the 16th Iowa Infantry was taken prisoner of war during the Battle of Atlanta in 1864, Union forces led by William Tecumseh Sherman eventually prevailed.
One part of the historic battle was reenacted Saturday afternoon at Keokuk’s Rand Park during the 27th Civil War Reenactment.
