I just bought a Austrian M1849 "kammerbushe" rifle today. On the description of the gun the seller remarked it did not have the front Sling swivel.
I have looked at a ton of pictures in the last few days and I have not seen a front sling swivel on any of them. where did it go on the rifle and does any one have one with the front sling swivel on it that could show me a picture. Thanks in advance papabyrd

For some strange reason most of the Muster 1844 and 1849 Kammerbüchse ("Garibaldi") rifles one sees in the United States are missing front or rear sling swivels; generally both. They are very difficult parts to find in the antique parts market. If a rifle had been converted to a smoothbore fouling piece it wouldn't necessarily be surprising, but even untransformed weapons are generally missing the swivels.
