I have never been able to find a pic of a member of the 26th Alabama Infantry through many searches. Does anyone have any they could share?

I was on History-sites.com and found one of the threads that said they had a pic of a member of the 26th Ala but the thread has gone unattended for a while now.

A little late, but yes. And quite an interesting one.

Cpt. Enoch M. VanDiver (1832-1922). He joined the 26th Alabama Infantry Regiment as a Lieutenant and was assigned to command his company (A) in 1862. VanDiver was wounded at Chancellorsville and then was detached on conscription duty in the western theater. After the war he settled in Mississippi.

Picture from my pinterest.

Do you know which company in the 11th Alabama that your family served in?

You should be able to find some at the Army Heritage and Education Center in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. They have one of he largest civil war photo archives in the United States. Consult their website for contact information. David.

Just goes to show how many images have surfaced over the last few years!

Nothing in 2011, loads now :D

There where two 26th Alabama as AUG mentions.
I made the wikipedia entries for both 26th and 26th/50th with a decent explanation of the difference.
Both where formed around the same time, but the latter renamed to 50th in June 1863.
