My efforts with the 1859 Sharps carbine restoration have come to a halt. So, I'm looking to keep learning about and restore any other CW-related rifles in need of restoration. I would prefer to work on rolling block, breech block or lever action rifles, as they should have new technology patent marks, similar to those on my Sharps.

May be better if I start with good/restorable wood, regardless of the other components.

Probably no takers here. Here's an idea....put yourself together a trapdoor. There's no lack of parts and barreled receivers are all over the auctions, original not repops. Along with a couple of books about the various mods, it will give you a good feel and appreciation for the arms of the period.
