A 4th Corps was created by Lee in October of 1864. Anderson,as temporary Lt.General, was given command. After Sayler's Creek on April 6, 1865 the 4th Corps survivors were merged with the 2nd Corps, leaving Anderson without a Command. The only further command he had for the war was of Hannon's Cavalry Brigade.
