Thanks for sharing this interesting article. Justing thinking what if that rock where those photos were taken of soldiers both Union and Confederate could talk! What kind of history would it tell...
First link, third photo of members of the 8th Kentucky. Sgt. Wagers is the second from the left, not the first on the left *** the caption states. I shared this photo here before. Wagers was one of my great Uncles.
Did not know the Linn studio was still at it for the next war, cool stuff! And love to know the date on the photo with civilians and soldiers- there are a ton of nurse accounts from Lookout's hospital, love to know if any of the women in that photo were some.
What a great resource, thanks for the links! Here's the most hair raising photo I've come across. Cropped from a steroview, can you imagine?
Indeed, I did! Before reading the articles I either failed to realize or had forgotten that their studio was the same exact location as the Ochs Observatory although I was just there last April and actually saw the exhibit! Above, a view to the left of the path leading to the observatory in the area where Grant was photographed; below, view of Moccasin Point from Ochs Observatory.
Below, a photo @1863surgeon sent me from some Facebook page (I have NO idea whose) showing reenactors duplicating the poses:
