He's an amazing artist, his paintings look spectacular, but for me I kind of like the artwork feel to other ACW artists. I don't want photo realistic painting hanging up on a subject like the civil war, it doesn't feel right. For me that is.

Still, his stuff is truly amazing.

This artist is blessed with very considerable technical skills. As an artist myself, I know that it can be extremely difficult to draw or paint in a photo-realistic manner. I have great respect for people who can do it, but I much prefer art that is painted with a lot of style and flair. That's also extremely difficult to do well. Fortunately, there are markets for both kinds of art.

To illustrate my preferences, I'd much rather look at an historic scene illustrated by N. C. Wyeth or Howard Pyle than by most of the currently popular painters, but that's just me. I see and appreciate the merits of all of them.

This is very much an individual preference. People have often asked me whether this or that painting by this or that artist would be a good choice. I always answer: "Buy art that appeals to you and hang it where you will see it every day. Then enjoy it!"
