There is a very interesting story about the confederate capture of the USS Harriet Lane at Galveston. When A M Lee boarded the ship he found his son who fought for the union dying on the deck.

It's a very touching story. I've seen it as Edward dying in his father's arms as well as Edward dying while Albert was looking for medical help. Not sure which really happened.

When asked whether Edward Lea had any final messages, he merely said, "My father is here." He died soon after.

I've never come across it.

I just happened to read a short bio on Lt. Sam Houston, Jr. of the 2nd Texas Infantry and later of a Texas artillery battery. He was the son of the 'father' of Texas and Governor Sam Houston and Margaret Lea Houston. Sam Houston declared his allegiance to the Union and was forced from his office.
Sam Houston Jr. fought at Shiloh where on the first day his Bible saved his life but on the 2nd day he received a severe wound in the thigh. He was exchanged and returned to serve in the artillery.
