Not sure how I missed this thread... just a note that W. D. Porter (William D. "Dirty Bill" Porter, D. D. Porter's older brother) is shown in his final rank as a Commodore, rather than as a Commander (the two ranks are frequently confused in the writings of the time); note the amount of sleeve braid he's showing.
