April 22-23, 2019 was the first reenactment of the Abraham Lincoln Funeral Train in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.
The Lincoln Funeral Train is an historically accurate full-sized re-creation of the locomotive and rail car that carried the body of President Abraham Lincoln from Washington, DC, to Springfield, IL, in 1865. The Lincoln Funeral Train debuted in May 2015 as a highlight of Springfield's sesquicentennial funeral events and
toured the Midwest throughout 2015 as part of the nation's 150th commemoration of Abraham Lincoln's assassination.
The event had:
• The only Full-Scale Replica of the Original Lincoln Funeral Car, Fully Furnished as it was on April 22, 1865 including a Replica of Lincoln’s Coffin
• Original Railbed (Built 1832)
• Original Hand-Cut & Laid Stone Wall
• Original Funeral Train Route, April 22, 1865
• Full-Scale Replica of an Original 4-4-0 Steam Locomotive
• Period-Correct 1850 Passenger Car to Carry the Troops
• Restored and Rebuilt Herr’s Mill Covered Bridge with Troops Crossing the Conoy Creek
• Re-enactors in Period-Correct Dress
• In-camp Demonstrations
