I've been interested in Lysander Spooner for a while now; a Boston abolitionist and friend of John Brown who recognized the rights of the Southern states to secede and vocally opposed the war.
I was curious if there are any other similar examples of abolitionists who viewed the Union attempting to keep the South from seceding by force as a form of slavery?
For Lysander Spooner's writings on the Confederacy's right to secede,
Lysander Spooner, Letter to Charles Sumner (1864)
No Treason: The Constitution of No Authority No. I, II & VI
