I have just finished re-reading Bruce Catton's trilogy "Mr. Lincoln's Army", "Glory Road" and "A Stillness at Appomattox" and was far more moved than when I read it the first time half a century ago. It is powerful and straight forward at the same time. If you haven't read them, you should if you have an interest in the war or the shaping of America. If you have read them, they are definitely worth a re-read. Now, my question, does anyone know of an equally good book (or series of books) on the Confederate Army?

Have just started reading Mr Lincoln's Army and I'm enjoying it. But thought the start was a bit odd, seemingly in the middle of 2nd Manassas.

Writers write how they want to write, not how you want to read but I was expecting an approach where Catton began at the beginning.

Nontheless, I will keep going.
