Captain John James Ward organized Ward's Alabama Light Artillery in Huntsville,Alabama in 1862. Ward's Artillery fought at the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain and other battles near Atlanta,Georgia. When I put up the portrait of Captain John James Ward on Civil War Talk,Alan Pitts wrote that on July 27,1864, Captain John James Ward was in a redan with Brig. Gen. Mathew Ector when a shell mortally wounded Captain John James Ward and wounded Ector's leg.

My Sylvester Brown Stephenson served as an artificer in Ward's Artillery.
