Civil War period US flask manufactured by W.T. FRY and Company of New York. This clear glass flask has a blackish leather protective jacket, threaded pewter cap and a removable pewter base which serves as a drinking vessel. The numerous markings are as follows;
”W.T.FRY NEW YORK”, flask bottom (embossed in the glass).
“WT&C”, stylized manufacturers’ logo,
Base of vessel (stamped).”W.T. FRY’S PATENT OCTOBER 20 1863”
Rim of spout (stamped) “W.T.FRY & CO NEW YORK”, cap (stamped).
Cap also carries the message;” TOP WARRANTED/NOT TO LEAK OR COME OFF”.
