I actually found this in the dirt on the surface about 20 feet from my house. My son and I had pulled out wood fence posts in this area so it's possible that is how it ended up on top. My house was built in 1826 and sits slightly north of Dayton, Ohio. Maybe there were soldiers who grew up in the home. Maybe they were on leave and lost a button? Am I right in thinking this is CW era?
Thanks for looking.

I have a federal general service button that I found here in Belmont County Ohio. The house had been built about 1870 by a veteran of the 185th Ohio.

Nice little Waterbury GS button and finding on your own land is a plus. Thanks For Sharing.
