He didn't own any slave in the 1950's. He was dead by that time.

He did, however, free a slave named William Jones in 1859, which means he must have owned Jones at some time during the 1850's.

HA!!.....Grant was DEAD by the 1950's and owned NO slaves!! **just kidding, with reference to the typo in the question** :)
However, getting serious, The only evidence that USG owned slaves is a document he signed in 1859 freeing one, William Jones. However, Grant certainly had some control over and use of slaves his father-in-law gave his wife.
So, my answer is William Jones, based on http://home.nas.com/lopresti/ps.htm and http://www.nps.gov/ulsg/historyculture/slaveryatwh.htm Thank you for all your hard work with this site and the Trivia Game.....I greatly enjoy both!!

Grant rec'd a slave named William Jones from his wife's father in 1856 or so. Grant freed the man in 1859.
Your question says 1950's....Grant, and Jones, were long since dead. So I assume this is a "whoops" moment and you mean 1850's.....
Happy daylight saving time....
